A monthly recap of the SLED JPS/HS and Transportation solicitation releases.

The month of March saw a dramatic increase in the number of solicitations, an increase of 57% over February 2017. This large increase was not just within the Justice/Public Safety & Homeland Security (JPS/HS) arena, but across the board within state and local governments. When looking at which vertical saw the largest share of bids, 63% were Transportation related, while the remainder were JPS/HS related. Digging in a little deeper at the primary requirement, 34% were Architecture, Engineering and Construction based, while 11% were Professional Services, and approximately 6% were Information Technology (IT) related.

When looking at the top states to issue bids related to IT, California led the way with 17.5% of those bids, Texas coming in second with 7.3%, followed by Colorado with 5.8%, Washington at 4.9% and Virginia at 4.3%.

Notable Solicitation Releases

  • The Texas Department of Public Safety has a requirement for Body Worn Cameras. Proposals were due April 4, 2017.
  • The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget has a requirement for a First Responder Network (FirstNet). Proposals are due April 19, 2017.
  • The Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology has a requirement for FirstNet Colorado Alternate Plan. Proposals are due May 8, 2017.
