Rachel Doherty is responsible for supervising a segment of analytical staff focusing on the tracking and identification of opportunities in the federal market that includes the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, United States Marine Corps, Department of Navy, US Air Force, US Army and other defense related agencies. She has extensive training and experience in market intelligence research, business development, strategic partnering and teaming, and program management.
Doherty has more than 16 years of related professional experience in the federal contracting industry, with subject-matter expertise in the government contracting activities of the associated Defense departments as well as agencies within the Civilian sector such as the Department of State, General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, Department of Commerce, Department of Labor, United States Agency for International Development, and the Smithsonian Institute.
A dual responsibility that Doherty holds also in support of the market intelligence group is Deltek's Manager & Liaison for the Government Community Program. Rachel works closely with agency points of contacts in both Defense and Civilian and has done so since 2010. Since that time she has built a vast amount of relationships in efforts to better support the daily needs and demands of the procurement industry through the guidance of appointed Government officials at every level.
In her former career as a federal contractor, Doherty worked as a manager of business development, concentrating in information technology opportunities in defense and civilian sectors. During this time, she executed various sub-vendor contracts for the, Department of Interior, Department of Labor, US Army and US Air Force and closely coordinated with proposal development and capture management teams to deliver compelling stories for submission.
Doherty holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Augustine's University in Raleigh, N.C. and a Master's degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in marketing from Strayer University. She is currently completing the final stage of her candidacy for a PH.D in Organizational Leadership from Capella University.
Doherty is also involved in numerous professional associations on a national and global scale: AFCEA, Women in Technology, Sales and Marketing Professional Association, American Management Association, Direct Marketing Association, and National Association of Women Business Owners.
