DHS’S STATE AND LOCAL GRANTS PROGRAMS – THE TECHNOLOGY IMPLICATIONS OF THE FY07 PROCESS AND H.R. 1 ARE SIGNIFICANT

Description
For FY 2007, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) streamlined its process for awarding $1.7 billion in grants to state and local governments via the Homeland Security Grants Program (HSGP), which includes the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP), the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP), and the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI). The new Democratic majority in U.S. House of Representatives has passed the “Implementing the 9/11 Commission Recommendations Act of 2007” (H.R. 1), which, if signed into law, would affect all three programs.
