The National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD), an affiliate of the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA), organized the conference on behalf of the Multi-State Collaborative for Medicaid Health System Transformation. The Collaborative was established by state Medicaid agencies to support the successful implementation of the Medicaid Transformation Grants. The theme of the event was '21st Century Medicaid: Transforming through Health Information Technology'. The current economic crisis is offering a transformative circumstance and Medicaid leaders are hopeful that recovery measures will open new frontiers of opportunity for health IT.
