Deltek Pulse: Justice and public safety month in review, September 2014
Published: October 03, 2014
The end of Q3 2014 wrapped with 69 percent fewer solicitations released than August.
While September proved to be a slow month for new solicitations, several entities awarded contracts, including Livingston County, New York’s radio frequency consultant project to C & S Engineers, and Arizona’s E911 PSAP project to CenturyLink, Frontier Communications, and Intrado Systems Corporation.
Notable releases in September:
- New York’s police enterprise RMS and fire RFID locator system
- Maine’s support services for court case management system
- FirstNet released an RFI that incorporated information from previous RFIs and will use vendor responses to create a draft RFP that is estimated to be released Q1 2015, with a formal RFP later in the year.
The most notable trend from this past month was the large number of canceled projects. Most government agencies cited lack of funds with no plans to move forward in the future. Historically, fewer solicitations are released as the year comes to an end, though October may see an uptick as agencies try to push out solicitations before the holidays, as well as finalize awards.
