South Carolina is one state that prefers to procure IT temporary staff augmentation services via a competitive solicitation process. The state’s current contract is up for rebid in 2014 and is one of the top opportunities for vendors providing staff augmentation services. South Carolina estimates up to $1 million in spend per vendor over the term of the current contract, which means the rebid contract could be similar in value. This opportunity is also featured in Deltek’s recent “Top Opportunities for FY 2014 - Statewide Term Contracts” report.

South Carolina has more than 700 qualified vendors on statewide term contracts, with approximately 200 holding IT temporary staffing services contracts. The state estimates spend for statewide IT temporary staffing contracts at approximately $30 million per year, and awards several vendors so agencies have more options to choose from. The current IT staff augmentation contract up for rebid has more than 75 awarded vendors.

Vendors can engage quicker with states that award many vendors than with states with fewer qualified vendors. South Carolina’s high vendor volume on the current contract likely indicates what’s in store for the upcoming rebid, which the state confirmed will be released around April 2014. Deltek is tracking the upcoming solicitation here.
