November saw an 8 percent drop in solicitations released in the justice and public safety vertical compared to October. This is not uncommon as projects typically slow down as the end of the year approaches. On the flip side, there was an increase in RFIs released compared to the past couple months, which points toward increased procurement activity in 2015.

Notable RFP releases in November:

The Illinois State Police signed a sole-source agreement with NEC Corporation for an automated fingerprint services identification system (AFIS). The estimated value of the contract is $9.5 million and is set to expire August 2021. The New York Division of Police canceled its law enforcement records management system RFP and confirmed that a revised solicitation will be released in the near future.

Vendors should keep an eye out for a possible increase in solicitations this first half of December as some government offices may push for projects to be released before the holidays.
