Countdown to Contracting Opportunities on beta.SAM.gov

Published: November 05, 2019

Opportunities

FBO.gov, the government’s procurement site for activities over $25K, will cease publishing new information at 8:00pm EST November 7, 2019 and will relaunch as Contract Opportunities through beta.SAM.gov on November 12, 2019.

What does this mean for you?

If you are a GovWin IQ subscriber, no action is required to maintain saved searches and tracked opportunities. You can expect to receive the same high quality service and ease of use through Deltek’s integration of procurement notice data.

Deltek formed a task team which actively monitors government announcements regarding the migration of FBO/Contract Opportunities to the new beta.SAM.gov site. This ensures Deltek is prepared to handle the coming changes so that there will be no interruption in service for clients. Additionally, the task team participated in beta.SAM.gov testing and provided significant feedback during GSA-sponsored training sessions and through the beta.SAM.gov portal. The task team is working closely with the IQ engineering team to ensure the GovWin product is ready for all aspects of the migration.

What is the timeline?

Though the public announcements indicate FBO.gov is moving to beta.SAM.gov on November 8, 2019, the first action actually starts Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 8:00pm EST. At this time, no new notices will be published nor can users make changes, such as add their name to an interested vendor list. This means no new sources sought/RFIs, amendments, award notices, etc., will be published during this time.

FBO.gov will be officially decommissioned Tuesday, November 12, 2019, and all new procurement activity will be exclusively through beta.SAM.gov moving forward.

Why is this happening?

FBO is just one of the government-wide acquisition and award support systems scheduled for integration into the System for Award Management. This platform, known as SAM, streamlined, eliminated redundancy and consolidated multiple separate government-wide acquisition and award support systems into a single point of entry.

The current SAM.gov site will migrate to the beta.SAM.gov site, and eventually the term “beta” will go away. Other changes associated with the creation of this single point of entry platform include the incorporation of the new Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) code and the Federal Procurement Data System – Next Generation (FPDS-NG), home to federal contract spending data.

What else should you know?

Deltek monitors many procurement sites, not just FBO.gov. Some agencies will continue to post opportunity information to non-FBO.gov sites during this transition, while others may follow the same blackout period. Deltek will continue to monitor these sites for new information and update our tracked opportunities accordingly. All saved searches and tracked opportunity monitoring will continue as normal during the blackout period.

While FBO.gov may not have new information on Friday, November 8, 2019, federal contracting offices will remain open and Deltek’s research analysts will continue to reach out to these procurement officials for updates regarding federal opportunities.

Monday, November 11, 2019 is Veterans Day, a federal holiday. The FBO.gov blackout period ends with the launch of Contract Opportunities through beta.SAM.gov on November 12, 2019.
