Federal Market AnalysisMobility

Deltek’s Federal Priorities Spotlight: Mobility, 2018 report takes a strategic look at federal agencies’ progress towards the expansion of mobile computing, workforce mobility and interaction with citizens and customers in a mobile-facing environment.

Citizen and employee expectations for modern service delivery, a dispersed and mobile workforce, along with growing mission requirements, fuel federal investments in enterprise mobility equipment, services and solutions. Deltek analyzes the policies, drivers, challenges and spending trends of federal agencies as related to executing their mobile strategies.

Key Findings

  • Moderate Spending Increase – Agencies are showing moderate total contract spending growth on enterprise mobility, however results at the individual agency level are mixed suggesting that spending on mobility devices and services is tied to technology refresh cycles.
  • Top Contract Vehicles – GSA Schedule 70 and Networx Universal continue to be the preferred contract vehicles for enterprise mobility purchases, but some spending will shift to Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) over the next few years.
  • Customer Demand – Federal customer demand for mobile friendly websites and mobile apps is on the rise, however agencies struggle to comply due to limited resources, budget constraints, and legacy IT limitations.
  • Telework – Federal telework participation has increased over the last five years, but recent changes in policies to scale back employee telework at Agriculture and Education has sent mixed messages to the federal workforce. Recently proposed legislation by telework proponents may prevent further erosion to teleworking practices.
  • Technology – Technology advances in enterprise wifi, 5G networks, device innovation, cloud and the internet of things are enabling agency mobility initiatives. However, legacy IT, data management, training, standardization and security issues still create barriers to the expansion of enterprise mobility and investments.
