A monthly recap of SLED Education solicitation releases.

The month of February continued to see some changes as 2018 progresses. The number of solicitations released continued to rise this month with a 47% increase compared to January 2018. Architecture, Engineering, and Construction continued to be the primary requirement associated with the highest percentage of solicitation releases at 36%, with Information Technology at 9%, and Professional Services at 13%. When looking at procurements by state, the highest number of solicitation releases for Education remained in Texas, New York, and California, with notable increases coming from both Illinois and Michigan, and the fewest releases came from Vermont, Alaska, and West Virginia.

Notable Solicitation Releases

  • The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) released a solicitation for a Unique Student Identification System. The purpose of this requirement is to support the SCDE, Commission on Higher Education, and the school districts in collection of individual student records in an efficient, timely, and secure manner. Proposals are due on March 22, 2018.
  • The Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget, on behalf of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Juvenile Justice Programs (JJP) issued a request for proposals for a Special Education Management System (SEMS). This requirement is for a web-based data management system that simplifies the special education processes and regulations while ensuring speed, compliance, and the ability to track and document the educational steps taken with each special education student in the facility’s care. Proposals are due on March 23, 2018.
  • The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) posted a solicitation for an Assessment and Reporting System for the Periodic Assessment (PA) Program. This requirement is intended to support strong formative assessment practices, including baseline, benchmark, and end-of-year assessments. Proposals are due on April 3, 2018.
