A quarterly recap of SLED Education solicitation releases.
The first quarter of 2023 saw an increase in the education market compared to the previous quarter. The number of bids jumped from 10,505, in quarter four to 13,441 in quarter one, for an increase of 28%. This uptick in bids is likely due to the end of the holiday season and the start of the new year.
Architecture, engineering, and construction bids made up 56% of bids released in the education market in the first quarter. Bids with a primary requirement of professional services made up 20% of bids, while information technology bids made up 24% of bids released in the education market. As usual, the primary and secondary education market had more activity than the higher education market, with 10,184 primary and secondary education bids released, compared to 3,257 bids in the higher education market space.
At 1,296, California released the highest amount of education bids in quarter one. Texas and New York followed close behind with 987 and 764 bids released, respectively. Together, these three states made up 22% of all education bids released. West Virginia, Delaware, and Vermont released the fewest number of bids in the education market during quarter one.
